Every January I reflect on the previous year, noting themes and trends, wins and losses. From there, I curate a list of things I learned. I shared the first half of this list in EP211 of The Balanced MomCast.
I share the second half here.
I learned that when I abide in Christ, pay attention to the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit, and go where He leads me, He provides every connection and open door I need. In 2023, I was invited to be a guest on several other podcasts. It was exciting and also a little chaotic. (See EP211 where I talk about never being alone in a quiet house! In fact, I had NO DAYS ALONE in my house from March to the end of September. Zero days. “0”)
Turns out that being a guest on the right show at the right time completely changed the trajectory of my work. Especially this one and this one.
Doing whatever God tells me to do is such an adventure. I truly do not need to worry about my work or my life. (You can find the shows I was on here. Go listen and support these wonderful podcast hosts.)
I learned that I’m tethered to my phone all day, every day. And, I hate it. I am no longer on social media, so I can’t blame that. I use my phone for good, useful, and life-giving reasons: music, podcasts, camera, GPS, weather. I also use Voxer to stay connected to my closest friends and family. I don’t have a million apps. I keep all my notifications silenced, and most are off completely.
But what I don’t like is the way I pick up my phone multiple times an hour to check and reply to emails, texts, and Voxer.
