Merry Christmas! Here’s my present to you:
ALL BOOKS BY SANDY COOPER 50% OFF THROUGH DECEMBER 31ST
You’re probably thinking, “Yeah…I’ll tell you why I don’t have peace at the table! Because I’ve got 20 people coming over for Christmas Eve, I haven’t wrapped my gifts yet, two presents for my kids are on back-order and won’t be here until January 12th, we leave for my inlaws (who live three states away) on December 28th, and my kids are basically existing on cookies and chocolate.”
Anyone else?
Today I welcome to the show my friend, Jane Curry Weber. Jane is a mom, writer, podcaster, and registered dietitian. She has spent most of her 20+ year career listening to families’ stories (so that little scenario up there will NOT freak her out). She loves to coach families from right where they are, to bring peace to their table.
A women’s ministry leader in her Church, Jane passionately combines Christian life wisdom to her practical nutrition approach. Women can find hope and ways to wellness through words of nourishment for both body and soul.
In Part 1 (releasing December 21) we discuss
Two holiday strategies that will help you THIS WEEK
The first six reasons you may not have peace at your table:
1. Rush. Time is non-existent at mealtimes. You barely sit in the first place.
2. Table? What table?
3. Body Shame is given a seat and it affects your every bite.
4. Medical reasons – food restrictions or having to eat more than you want to steals some of the rest when eating.
5. Eating scars – bad food memories or messages are on replay when you face your plateful.
6. Cost – You feel pressure to eat well on a little budget.
Also, listen to my wonder and surprise as Jane describes what I shared on EP135 about eating healthy on a budget.
In Part 2 (releasing December 28) we discuss
Six more reasons you may not have peace at your table
7. Food is wrapped up in emotions and is eaten to comfort or is the company that doesn’t disappoint.
8. Dieting lens – You don’t see nourishment, you see calories/carbs/fat that you need to limit.
9. Picky eating – some who dine with you will not eat what you make, no matter how hard you try.
10. Cravings take over and you feel out of control when you eat.
11. Cooking skills – they are not there yet, or you simply have no interest.
12. You’re not setting a place for Peace itself at you table yet. And if you are being honest, you don’t see how that will change anything.
Two strategies you can take into 2024 with you
