I once had a young minister grab my hands and pray fervently that God would bestow upon me the gift of playing the piano. I always thought it would be cool to play the piano, but that’s not why he was praying for my hands.
He prayed this because I was dating one of his best friends who happened to be an up-and-coming minister in our denomination. A denomination where the firey preacher was always (and I mean always) accompanied by his beautifully talented piano-playing wife. And since I didn’t know how to play the piano, it was likely that we were incompatible. Never mind that I could write, speak, and teach God’s word. I lacked the spiritual gift of piano playing.
I didn’t marry that guy—thank God—and I still don’t play the piano. But his current wife does, so good on him 👍🏻
How do you know what your spiritual gifts are?
Is it what you like to do?
What you’re good at?
What the evangelist spoke over you at youth camp when you were 13?

Today is Part 2 of my conversation with Pastor and author Chase Rashad Stancle where we unpack all of this and so much more.
What We Discuss:

Oh my goodness.... yes! this was the best episode yet--thanks for having this conversation with Chase. His message about spiritual gifts was so well timed--I just heard a series on the spiritual gifts that made it all about self-discovery instead of God-centered, Jesus-honoring service through out gifts. Hope that makes sense! I had tears in my eyes, too.
